Cats
| Isä-Brownin Felis alias
Felis
Felis is the first cat of our Burmese population. She was the result of nearly a year’s work; searching for information, looking for a breeder and finding an available kitty for us. We were expecting a blue, lilac or a lilac tortie Burmese female who was supposed to have a litter. The end result was a chocolate charming little Burmese package. We had the name Felis (cat in Latin) ready long before the actual cat came along! Felis is treasure of our household. She’s affectionate, active, playful Burm who knows for sure how to get what she wants. She knows how to blink her bambie eyes in order to have people do what she wants! Burmese charm; who could possibly resist it?! Felis is a calm passenger, a perfect mother and a skilful hunter for insects. Felis loves undevided attention, sleeping in and dawdling under the covers. She also enjoys being outdoors (leashed, as always). Felis is always forgiven for her surprises -even the nasty ones- just for being a Felis. Cats’ mission is just to exist and enjoy themselves; and Felis seems to be aware of it! After a loooong discussion, Felis has moved to her "grandmom's" place, where she enjoys her pensionary life to the fullest. There's no limit to the amount of attention she gets at her new home, and she loves it!

| CH Genuina Parcca Africanus alias
Parcca
Parcca is our long awaited lilac Burmese female; the whim of faith, as the name indicates (“Goddess of faith”). Parcca is the very first kitten of the Genuina Cattery; the fruit of love between her mother Isä-Brownin Felis and a South African sir GIC Tharfield Hod. At a very young age Parcca decided to stay with us –for good. As long as her feet began to carry she climbed over the barricades (bedroom and kitchen were forbidden areas for too small kittens) and insisted accompanying us with whatever we did wherever in the household -and so she did! Parcca is quite spicy a cat. There’s not a cat as limber as Parcca. She loves heights; bookshelves and closets seem to be irresistible! Another of her favourites are tiny little holes. She’s a total master of lying on the top of radiators and it only takes a second for her to her to make a tunnel in a bed that has just been made. Parcca is an experienced traveller. She doesn't necessarily enjoy the journey but lover arrivings. She’s well aware of herself, playful and a very smart Burmese. Similar to Felis, she turned out to be a superb mother to her kittens. Parcca is quite talkative and she surely makes it clear for all of us whenever she’s in a bad mood! Parcca's daughter CH Genuina Danish Dandy and a granddaughter Genuina Faunus Phantasticus live with my sister in Kuopio, Finland.

| AUS* CH Aurora Paint Mia Star alias Saga Saga is the long awaited import addition in our cattery. The story of her began one and a half years before the actual kitty was born, thus the name Saga (a story). An appropriate cat was searched over years and countries and the fact that she was eventually found in Gold Coast of Australia, from a territory I myself lived 14 years ago, was pure coincidence! The project of importing was long and troublesome but good things are worth waiting, eh! Saga is incredibly sweet natured. She’s brave and energetic, not to mention self motivated and playful. She has no fear for hights and sometimes she does things I never thought a house cat could possibly do. Since the neutering her number one enjoyment in life seems to be food. Luckily we have several cats in the household to keep her active as it seems that she will be dieting for the rest of her life... Saga has got beautiful golden yellow eyes, extremely silky coat and very muscular yet feminine body. She has developed really nicely and her personality is absolutely fabulous! We kept a choc tortie girl, GIC Genuina Humming Harlequin, from her last litter to continue breeding with the line. Saga herself enjoys her pensionary life to the fullest!

| IC Demonian Ron Weasley
alias Onni Onni's arrival in the household was quite a roulette right from the beginning. Out of the blue we lost our beloved Jerri due to a sudden health hazard, and the girls were left without a trace of catty testosterone in the household. Jerri was never the boss in our house but after he was gone the girls just went all crazy. After a while of chaos we decided to get a new boy -a therapy cat- to keep us company and hopefully calm down the girls. Onni has turned out to be a superb cat for the purpose we wanted him for. He's very sweet natured, extremely energetic, playful and most importantly he gets along with everyone extremely well. Onni (the name means luck in Finnish) is rather talkative, he has got beautiful coat quality and lovely golden yellow eyes. He starves for human affection and -oh my God- he knew what to do with queens in heat at the age of 5 months...! Onni is a neuter these days but he still acts like a true stud in the household.

| GER* Abraxa Ava von
Wistano
alias Ava Ava's arrival was the result of a long and eventful desire for a blue Burmese. I must admit I hadn't planned getting another import queen, but as the opportunity arose it became too tempting to refuse. Ava's breeders, Daniel & Sascha, wanted to get fresh blood for the breeding in the form of a Genuina-kitten. To cut a long story, we ended up trading kittens with one another. Ava has got very interesting backround with a Mexican sir and a Spanish queen. There are old British lines in the backround and yet the kitten is born in Germany! The cat is quite a Baden Powell and Maria Callas in one and the same package. She arrived, charmed us and ventured the house within the very first 30 minutes as she stepped outside the travelling bag! No excuses required and none given! She truly is quite a charmer! Ava has had her first litter and debuted at a cat show and thus will have another litter some time soon. She's more like a household cat rather than a show star. But what she may be lacking in external beauty is potentially compensated in emotional intelligence!

GIC Genuina Humming Harlequin alias Kina Kina is the latest arrival in our household. Se is a daughter to Saga and a handsome charmer IP Seirene Daddy Cool. I fancied of a brown queen but Kina knocked me off my feet and remained with us even though it was not the original plan. As Saga had to be neutered due to recurrent pyometras, destiny was sealed and we kept Kina for keeping the line going. Kina has got beautiful golden yellow eyes that are not rounded but of lovely shape just as her ears. She's got fantastic silky and glossy coat and a purrrsonality beyond words. A perfect mixture of best of qualities from both the parents! No cat is perfect but I'll leave the flaws for judges to decide. As a junior in the household Kina is priviledged for mice fetching, which is a play she never gets tired of. There's no place in the house where she wouldn't find her mice, and there's no time within a day when she wouldn't be ready for some serious mouse action! To cut a long story she is an adorable Burmese! Hopefully we'll have a litter or a few with her some time in the near future. It remains to be seen if we'll manage to refrain keeping any offspring from her...

Genuina Kea alias Kea It was not lilac but brown that we were supposed to get next...! Kea's mother gave birth by C-section and we wanted to make sure the pedigree would not disappear from the Finnish Burmese breeding in case Kina would not have any more breeding quality kittens. The first moments of this litter were the most horrifying ever of all our litters! Had this been the first litter, it would have ended up being the last one as well. Luckily though years of Burmese breeding have given us much more good than unfortunate experiences and thus these memories will be remembered and let time to golden them over time. I wasn't too intriqued by leaving home a kitten I hadn't originally planned on doing, and after a looooong pause of figuring out what to do with this little princess, I ended up giving her to one of my friends who was also interested in showing her. Hopefully Kea will give birth to one or two Genuina-litters in the years to come. Kea is an unbelieveble purring mashine who has plenty of stories to tell (she's extremely talkative!). She's kind of like the namesake Kiwi alpine parrot; notoriously intelligent, uncompromising and loud when needed.

FR* Chic the Cats Love alias Salma On our Australian sector of the round-the world trip in 2006-2007 we made contact with this marvelous breed. I had known Bombay breed to exist but I had never felt any attraction towards it. We visited a few Burmese catteries in Australia and in one of them (Moravanka) we met this first ever (to us) Bombay. As lovely as the Australian Burmese we had seen were (the colour of the eyes and coats were well beyond the quality we have in Finland and Europe in general), the Bombay was just too sharming to be forgotten. I actually made an effort to put the whole thing behind me but the ever so sharming breed kept coming back to my mind month after month... And once you give the thought a finger, the whole arm gets ripped off! Once we had returned home I finally gave in and started looking for first one but later on two Bombays for ourselves. And seven months later I found myself in Paris at the Cats Love cattery in France! Will Finnish Bombay breeding kick off with these two lovely cats, Chic and Charm the Cats Love, remains to be seen. Time will show what sort of challenges this new breed has set ahead of us. Surely a challenge for the future will be having the Bombay breed recognized in Fifé...

FR* Charm the Cats Love alias Chaos
Bombays arrived, mesmerized and conquered a place for themselves for good! The uncountable number of stories involved in finding these two lovely creatures would deserve plenty of stories of their own but let's just leave it like that. To cut a long story though, I believe destiny sometimes plays tricks on us but things have a tendency to work out for the best and so they did in this case as well. I feel priviledged to have made some unique contacts with several breeders and my heart goes out to Mrs. Jablonski for trusting these two lovely Bombays to us! There are a lot of Bombays who resemble their ancestors, Burmese, by their looks despite the pitch black coats and copper penny eyes. There seem to be a lot of similarities in the temperament between these two breeds as well. Of course, spending time with just two Bombays does not reveal all the secrets that lie behind this sharming small breed. Hopefully the years to come will give us plenty of possibilities to learn more about this ever so fascinating breed! |
